WHAT ARE COLORED CONTACT LENSES?
Some colored lenses are translucent or see-through and are used to enhance your existing eye color. If you have light colored eyes, these lenses can make your eye color more vibrant.
Opaque colored lenses use a tint that isn't transparent and are often used to change eye color. If you have brown eyes and want to have blue eyes, opaque tinted lenses would be the best choice. Opaque colored contacts come in a variety of colors including green, blue, hazel, violet, amethyst, brown and gray.
Colored contact lenses are available in both prescription and non-prescription forms. They are also available in daily wear or repeat wear varieties.
WHAT IS A PROSTHETIC CONTACT LENS?
A prosthetic contact lens is a custom hand painted colored contact lens often used for patients with an irregular or partially colored iris. The custom lens is painted to blend with the patient's eye color and the lens is shaped to align with the desired area of the eye. Like other colored contact lenses, prosthetic lenses can be made in both prescription and non-prescription forms.
