ARE DISTANT OBJECTS OUT OF FOCUS?

You might have a condition called nearsightedness or myopia

WHAT IS MYOPIA?

When close objects appear clearly and distant objects are blurry, there is common vision condition known as myopia.

In fact, it is the most common eye condition, affecting nearly 30% of Americans.

A normal eyeball is round. When the front of the eye (the cornea) is elongated, it changes the focal point of the eye, resulting in nearsightedness.

This causes light and images to focus in front of your retina instead of on your retina.

WHAT CAUSES MYOPIA?

While an exact cause of myopia is still unknown, it is believed that a combination of genetic and environmental factors contribute to the condition.

Environmental factors can include eye fatigue caused by extended computer use as well as other near vision tasks. Other risks associated with myopia include family history and increased time spent indoors.
